The
dbAppliance features Teracruz's SQL Query Result Caching,
enabling organizations to dramatically improve the performance
of vital business systems, thereby saving time and money by
increasing the performance of application infrastructure.
How It Works
Database acceleration in the dbAppliance works by caching
database query results. Queries made by applications to the
database are monitored by the dbAppliance and, if the query
results are not already cached, forwarded to the database.
When the database responds, the dbAppliance sends the results
to the application and also caches a copy of the results.
When an application's query is found in the cache, the cached
results are sent to the application instead of forwarding
the query to the database.
Unprecedented Performance Gains
The repetitive nature of most data-driven applications, especially
those that are web-enabled, often causes database servers
to work very hard at producing the same results sets over
and over again. The Query Result Cache technology of the dbAppliance
moves a significant amount of work off of the database server.
Many dbAppliance users have reported application response
time improvements over 500% and up to 50% reduction in database
server CPU usage.
Caching Configuration and Control
The acceleration capabilities of the dbAppliance are easily
controlled through Teraview. A simple point and click interface
allows global cache control, as well as allowing caching to
configured on the basis of table, user, database, server and
client. |
